Cubism Dream [Daytrotter] by Local Natives

Local Natives released their debut album Gorilla Manor in 2010.
Their single Airplanes brought them a lot of attention in Holland.


Since 2009 Local Natives have played a bunch of shows in Holland and i still haven't seized the opportunity to see them live.
You could find it strange but i'm a bit annoyed that i haven't been to a Local Natives concert, especially because it's not as if i didn't get my chance to see them live.


Clothing money, concert money and bad planning.
I could have seen them at least four times, if those three things weren't that big an issue to deal with.

I'm typing this because i still find Gorilla Manor such a beautiful album and seeing them live would be amazing beautiful.


Even though i can't wait to her new stuff, my Gorilla Manor crush is still very much alive. No actually that crush is love now.
I don't know the precise details because i haven't been reading any Local Natives news, but they will release their sophomore album somewhere in 2012.

A sunny afternoon, breezy evening and heart warming night

Volunteers only got one day to visit the festival and because i really wanted to see Lykke Li, i chose to only see her at Motel Mozaique.
This means i'll be missing Dum Dum girls for the third time and won't be able to see No age or Eklin after all.

I won a guest list spot and +1 to No Age thursday but had to give that away because i couldn't find anyone to fill the plus one spot.
you will not believe how disappointed i was, but those feelings went away when i heard that my H&M order was delivered.

Missing an amazing live concert for FREE was shit, but winning them in the first place is a sign that my luck is coming back.
Now i have my luck back and my perfect in between season coat.

London Calling festival II

The saturday.
Tame Impala, Wavves, Lulu and the Lampshades, Warpaint, Good Shoes, The Rumour Said Fire, Yuck, Beach Fossils, Factory Floor, The Hundred in the Hands, Summer Camp en The Neat.


I'm only going one day this year.
My cousin couldn't join me and i found out that it isn't that bad experiencing it all alone, but it isn't amazing either.
Plus there are more bands i really want to see playing the saturday.

One of those band being Warpaint .
They were so good during at Walk The Line festival so with their album 'The Fool' out it can only be better.

Tame Impala

Another band i really want to see.
Like Warpaint also tipped by friend A. and they were on my June playlist.
Riding my bike in the hot and sometimes mellow sun while listening to Tame Impala album Innerspeak was bliss!

Wavves

The third band i want to see. I kept hearing his songs but couldn't link the name to the songs and when that finally connected all was good.


As for the other bands, i am a little familiar with Beach Fossils, I've seen Good Shoes perform in what i think was 2008 and from what i've heard from Yuck and The Hundred in the Hands i'm pretty positive.
I'm just going to take the rest of the bands in and enjoy the second and last London Calling festival of 2010.

HEALTH/Crystal Castles

Tuesday was HEALTH and Crystal Castles.
HEALTH was amazing and after four years of listening to Crystal Castles I finally experienced Alice and Ethan live.
I was sitting on the balcony so my first time Crystal Castles wasn't as amazing compared to my fifth time HEALTH.

Saturday was the Robyn concert of course I was late.
In the train 15 minutes away from Amsterdam I realised i managed to forgot my chip card at home and because i had spend my last €20 to get to the concert i was freaking out a bit.
Luckily my dear friend Melissa came to my rescue and i managed to arrive at Paradiso just in time to see the opening act end.

I didn't have a brilliant view on the stage from where i was standing

but I still managed to enjoyed myself, dancing on my own feeling, like a dancehall queen and showing Robyn love.
With not just one but two encores, the last being the classic song I named this post after, i can say with a big smile on my face that i thought Robyn was amazing.

Slow September

This September is a bit quiet without any gigs.
Last year i saw the amazing Patrick Wolf and the year before that i ran into the last Bowerbirds song but experienced Bon Iver from beginning to the above amazingly closing.
A September this slow feels weird.

Festival De Affaire

Late update but here it is anyway.
I went to Nijmegen for a weekend for the festival, saw a few bands, enjoyed them and the whole atmosphere of the festival and the city.
Next year i'm going for a full week!

Summer's just beginning baby

While reading my mail I read that Kindamuzik were giving away tickets for The Drums.
After missing them last Thursday I decided I was going to see them no matter what, so i though let's give it a try and entered.
I just received an email that i won! I'm going to the drums Friday!

Lucky May(hem)

After winning a day ticket for Walk The Line Festival in Den Haag i won a ticket to Hilfiger Denim in Paradiso Amsterdam AND Sleigh Bells in Rotown Rotterdam this week!
Soo happy because i'm spending money i don't have at the moment and this way i don't have to.

Hilfiger Denim was on Thursday and even though i missed The Drums (one of the three bands i really wanted to see) it was so much fun.
I think because my buddy, who normally doesn't really like everything i like, was also having a great time.
We came in when The Drums were just ending their set and i wanted to rush to catch the last song but where to put your coat eh.

So the first band of the night we saw were Matt and Kim.
They were so much fun to see! I've never seen a band so happy faced during a performance.
In between the Parra Soundsystem DJ's were mixing some good party tunes and then came the second act: Major Lazer.

I already saw them once during Bazar Curiex in December last year and that performance was a bit WOW and fun, but this time it was a bit less wow but a notch more fun.


Haha probably because i wasn't alone this time.
Tonight Sleigh Bells, can't wait!
I'm missing a part of my mex's birthday bash because i really want to see Sleigh Bells so i hope it won't disappoint.
