The International Film Festival Rotterdam will start and celebrate it's 40th anniversary!
I was counting on pay day to be that friday but alas it was not.
I wanted to see les amours imaginaires again but just like Black Swan, Never Let Me Go, Attenberg, 13 Assassins and Biutiful all the dates were already sold out before i could buy tickets.
Luckily i saw other films that sparked my interest and ended up buying tickets for the following :
Fleurs du mal
"Paris-Tehran.
A rootless love story between Gecko, young and free, and Anahita, an Iranian in exile -- tangled up in History and steeped in Internet.
Anahita is obsessed by the current event in her country, and little by little their story is contaminated by History and its breathless mediatisation on the internet."
"...The film is born from the confrontation of these two individuals moved by their will of freedom. FLEURS DU MAL rebels. "
"Since 2007, the Hong Kong health authorities have implemented an anti-smoking law that bans people from smoking in all indoor areas, including offices, restaurants, bars, and karaoke lounges. Office smokers now have to take their cigarette breaks on the streets outside, which has led to groups of smokers from the same building bonding together in cliques known as "hot pot packs."
In an alley packed with loudmouth co-workers spreading the daily gossip, Jimmy, a mild-mannered advertising executive, meets cosmetics salesgirl Cherie. "
" As smoke gets in their eyes, one thing leads to another"
Blue Valentine
The film centers on a contemporary married couple, charting their evolution over a span of years by cross-cutting between time periods.
