Eindhoven: two nights, one day & an early morning
Friday and saturday is was working as volunteer at STRP festival in Eindhoven and it was a long but i have to say great weekend.
I was on the back up team but because of a fire at Utrecht central a lot of the trains were out of the running.
This caused that some volunteers were stuck at the train station and just couldn't come what meant more work for me!
After the first friday festival night I missed my train so i spend the night at Eindhoven train station waiting for everything to open so i could sit somewhere warm and maybe snooze a bit. Going home to Rotterdam just sounded like a waste of time and money, especially when i could discover a new town.
I decided to go and watch Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows just to be out of the cold and even though i still have to see the part that comes before the Deadly Hallows it was a understandable adventurous film.
After that i still had a lot of time left and i went to the library.
I brought my psychology book along with me so that if i got bored i could at least do something useful.
The library is very modern, open and relaxed place to read, i have to admit i fell asleep for a while, but it was such a relaxed place to just sit and chill.
They even had a little café in the library.
fast forward a few hours later
Before my shift started i got to see Die Antwoord and with all the hype they caused at Lowlands 2010 and their own concert at Trouw Amsterdam a few days after the Lowlands festival, i thought the performance was a bit disappointed.
Yeah they were loud and made enough contact with the crowd, but they just didn't do it for me.
Ah well my shift started at 23.00 til 6.30 behind the bar.
It was a long sticky shift but a fun shift and i've learned that i really should practice on tapping a perfect or anything close to perfect beer.
After London Calling II 2010
London calling was good fun.
I started my night with Summer Camp, a band i thought i didn't knew but when they played their last song i remembered i did know the song
I enjoyed seeing Warpaint for the second time.
They played more from a setlist this time instead of ending some songs in long hypnotic jam sessions, which was nice to hear.
Tame Impala also were pretty good to see live.
I managed to get their setlist afterwards so i know what they did and didn't play.
They were less energetic then i thought they would be, but i can't deny that they pleased the crowed.
Wavves closed the main stage and it was fast and a bit loud, just the way i like my midnight concerts!
I mostly enjoyed watching all the people stagedive, boy some people really fell on a wrong place.
Factory Floor -Taxidermist
Factory Floor ended this years London Calling festival in the small room and they really were loud.
I never wear earplugs bit at that moment i wish i did.
It was already around 3 am so i enjoyed a about two songs (they really are good live) but due to tiredness i called it a night.
May 2011 again!

Part of the Weekend Never Dies
2Many DJ's, Rock Werchter 2008
Radio Soulwax, Lowlands 2009
Loved it and loved them.
Saturday 27 november is Soulwaxmas at STRP Festival in Eindhoven where i can experience them live again.
I've been waiting too long, i want to dance.
Part Of The Weekend Never Dies from Joe Randall-Cutler on Vimeo.
If you haven't seen Soulwax Part of the Weekend Never Dies you should watch it, it's amazing!
Well I found it amazing but i think those guys are amazing.
Biased much.
My love affairs
JESSICA 6 'Fun Girl' from Bijoux Altamirano on Vimeo.
KIM ANN FOXMAN "CREATURE" [mr.intl records] from KIM ANN FOXMAN on Vimeo.
I loved both women when they were part of Hercules and Love Affair, i even think i loved HALA because of them , and i love their solo stuff.
Nomi is one third of the band Jessica 6 (with Andrew Raposo and Morgan Wiley also Ex-HALA members) and Kim Ann really is doing her thing solo.
Tuesday
London Calling festival II
The saturday.
Tame Impala, Wavves, Lulu and the Lampshades, Warpaint, Good Shoes, The Rumour Said Fire, Yuck, Beach Fossils, Factory Floor, The Hundred in the Hands, Summer Camp en The Neat.
I'm only going one day this year.
My cousin couldn't join me and i found out that it isn't that bad experiencing it all alone, but it isn't amazing either.
Plus there are more bands i really want to see playing the saturday.
One of those band being Warpaint .
They were so good during at Walk The Line festival so with their album 'The Fool' out it can only be better.
Tame Impala
Another band i really want to see.
Like Warpaint also tipped by friend A. and they were on my June playlist.
Riding my bike in the hot and sometimes mellow sun while listening to Tame Impala album Innerspeak was bliss!
Wavves
The third band i want to see. I kept hearing his songs but couldn't link the name to the songs and when that finally connected all was good.
As for the other bands, i am a little familiar with Beach Fossils, I've seen Good Shoes perform in what i think was 2008 and from what i've heard from Yuck and The Hundred in the Hands i'm pretty positive.
I'm just going to take the rest of the bands in and enjoy the second and last London Calling festival of 2010.

Assise Sitting
L'aube se lève Dawn is waking up
Et la vie ce cortège défile And life, that procession, goes by
tombe la neige Snow is falling
la danseuse se réveille s'étire The dancer wakes up and stretches
moi j'vais à pied I go on foot
de mon lit à ma table y'a pas d'bus From my bed to my table there is no bus
dire que je vais rester to think that I'm gonna stay
toute la journée the whole day
assise sitting
Midi déjà Noon already
et la vie ce manège tournoie And life, that carousel, is turning
bruits de fourchettes Sounds of forks
tous les restes que l'on jette All the leftovers that they throw away
c'est pour moi Are for me
puis vient le soir tThen comes evening
les amants dans l'placard The lovers in the closet
ça m'inspire That inspirse me
dire que je vais passer to think that I'm gonna
toute la nuit spend the whole night
assise sitting
C'est quand même triste It’s sad, isn’t it
d'être vissée sur sa chaise à mon âge To be stuck on my chair at my age
comme une vieille anglaise Like an old English lady
une momie, un otage A mummy, a hostage
oui je suis l'otage de ma tête Yes, I’m the hostage of my own mind
tout c'que j'vois par la fenêtre Everything I see from my window
déménage dedans Is moving inside
c'est pas ma fête si je suis tout le temps It’s not my party f I’m always sitting down
assise
Vous papillons épinglés You, pinned butterflies
une belle nuit d'été sur ma page ! A beautiful summer night on my page
vous amoureux déchirés You, torn lovers
couchés sur le papier bien sages ! Lying down on the paper, being good
c'est à mon tour regardez It’s my turn, watch me
j'ai une voix pour chanter I have a voice to sing
j'ai des pieds pour courir I have feet to run
j'vais quand même pas rester toute ma vie You don’t think I’m gonna stay my whole life

Thursday
I Wish
A song that was a hit around the time my uncle died.
Hearing certain songs always takes me back to the emotion i felt when i first heard them and because that wasn't such a happy time i don't really like hearing that R. Kelly song.
How To Dress Well has a voice, a style.
I really like his version of the song.

The first 10 weeks of school are almost over, test time is just a few days away.
Time to turn in all my essays and logbooks and I'm feeling pretty stressed.
Thank Itunes i have my music that always soothes my mood
